Joint Meeting of CIMO Expert Team on Instrument Intercomparisons and International Organizing Committee (IOC) for the WMO Solid Precipitation Intercomparison Experiment (SPICE), First Session
1. Mission Statement
To understand the performance of, and develop metrics for, modern automated sensors used to observe and measure total precipitation measurement in cold climates for all seasons, and especially when precipitation is solid, snowfall measurement (height of new fallen snow), and point snow depth measurement.
To understand and document the differences between automatic and manual measurements of solid precipitation of equally sheltered gauges, including their siting and configuration.
